Rahman's plight in Chelsea's defeat against Stoke
This was a real baptism of fire and brimstone for Abdul Baba Rahman for his first game at the Britannia Stadium.
A visit to Stoke City is not an easy task for a team that is flying high on the English Premier League side. For a lowly Chelsea, who have been troubled with catastrophic results in their bid to defend their title, that was a gargantuan task to overcome. And with your manager serving a ban, it couldn’t have gotten any worse.
But it did. For Ghana international Baba Rahman who joined the club from German Bundesliga side Augsburg in the summer.
The Chelsea left full back was tossed and turned all over the left side of the pitch as exposed and struggling Chelsea endured another defeat in the Premier League destroying Jose Mourinho’s record of never having lost seven games in a single league season.
The Black Stars full-back, Baba Rahman impressed in the UEFA Champions League in midweek. A performance that saw him keep his place in starting position against Stoke City.
The fortunes unfortunately turned in the Premier League for the former Kotoko player as attacks upon attacks were leaked via his side of the football pitch.
Marko Arnautovic’s goal for Stoke City, the only goal of the game won all three points for Mark Hughes’ side as Chelsea were sent packing from the Britannia Stadium.
Abdul Baba Rahman was replaced by Oscar after 70 minutes of playing time. The Ghanaian received a yellow card booking against Stoke City.
